Moving Through

Workshops - June 28th & August 9th

Navigating Pregnancy, Infant Loss, and Infertility through community and movement.

June 28th - Artist Workshop

Location: The Dance Hub, 4700 Lakeside Ave E, 4th Floor, Cleveland Ohio 44114
Time: 2:00 - 4:00 pm
FREE

This workshop is an invitation for artists of all disciplines who have experienced pregnancy loss, infant loss, or infertility to gather in a space rooted in care, openness, and shared understanding.

Led by Megan L. Gargano and The Movement Project team, this workshop offers time and space for artists navigating grief to reconnect with themselves through a guided movement experience. Together, we will explore how loss lives in the body, how it shapes our artistic voices, and how creative expression can support the ongoing process of moving through.

This is not about creating finished work, but about gently opening through movement, writing, and reflection; alongside others who understand the complexity of this experience.

On a personal note, Gargano shares:
“Finding my voice and reconnecting with my body after the loss of my daughter, Luna, was a debilitating and difficult journey, one I am still navigating. Through this workshop, I hope to support fellow artists who have experienced this kind of grief and the challenge of re-engaging with their artistic selves. There was a before, and there is an after. This space exists to support that understanding, and to move within it together.”

Artists are invited to come as they are—no expectations, no pressure—just a willingness to be present in a shared space of creativity, grief, and connection.

*This is an inclusive space that honors all gender identities and expressions. Partners of those who have experienced pregnancy loss, infant loss, or infertility are welcome as well.

August 9th - Community Workshop

Location: TBD
Time: 2:00 - 4:00 pm
FREE

This workshop is a space for individuals who have experienced pregnancy loss, infant loss, or infertility to come together in community, reflection, and care. No artistic or dance background is needed.

Led by Megan L. Gargano and The Movement Project team, this gathering invites participants to engage in gentle, guided experiences rooted in self-care, reflection, and movement.

Together, we will hold space for the complexities of grief, through a guided movement experience, exploring ways of processing loss through the body and presence. Participants are welcome to engage in whatever way feels right, whether that means moving or simply being.

Gargano shares:
“After the loss of my daughter, Luna, I found myself searching for spaces where I could exist in my grief without needing to explain it. Spaces where I didn’t have to be anything other than where I was. This workshop is an offering of that kind of space, for those navigating loss to be held in community, and to know they are not alone.”

This workshop centers care, accessibility, and choice, offering a supportive environment for individuals and families navigating loss to gather, reflect, and move through, together.

*This is an inclusive space that honors all gender identities and expressions. Partners of those who have experienced pregnancy loss, infant loss, or infertility are welcome as well.

The Movement Project has been selected as part of the 2025 cohort of ArtsForward grant recipients, a grant program facilitated by ArtsNow aimed to provide resources to support Akron/Summit Cultural Plan’s ten key priorities.

Moving Through: Navigating Pregnancy, Infant Loss, and Infertility
through community and movement.

Through dance and dialogue, Moving Through gives voice to the often-unspoken journeys of women navigating pregnancy loss, infant loss, and infertility. Led by Artistic Director Megan L. Gargano and The Movement Project team, the work is rooted in Gargano’s personal experience of losing her daughter, Luna, at 37 weeks pregnant.

The initiative also includes two community panels, one focused on raising awareness around maternal health disparities, and another highlighting vital resources and support for families navigating loss. Through performance and conversation, Moving Through creates a space for healing, connection, and advocacy, honoring grief while envisioning a more supported future for all mothers and families.
