Education & Outreach

Serving communities across Northeast Ohio through academically grounded programming.

TMP Outreach Offerings & Residencies

Since 2009, The Movement Project has provided high-quality, affordable dance education through outreach programs in schools, libraries, hospitals, community centers, and museums across Northeast Ohio. Led by TMP’s professional dance educators, these programs support students from early childhood through adolescence by fostering creativity, confidence, and a strong sense of community, while building skills that translate to both academic success and everyday life.

Through age-appropriate programming, TMP nurtures early development by strengthening motor skills, encouraging imaginative expression, and supporting social-emotional growth. For middle and high school students, residencies emphasize artistic exploration, career readiness, and community engagement, equipping emerging artists with the tools and mentorship needed to thrive within a sustainable and equitable arts ecosystem.

The Movement Project’s annual pre-professional Summer Intensive is a one-week program for dancers ages 12–18 who are serious about deepening their technical, creative, and performance practice. Participants engage in a rigorous daily schedule of professional training, creative exploration, and rehearsals led by TMP’s artistic directors, company members, and distinguished guest artists. The program includes modern and contemporary technique, ballet, improvisation, composition, House, injury prevention, and somatic practices, alongside career-focused courses such as résumé building, dance on film, and marketing. As part of the program, each artist receives professional dance action photos for their portfolio.

TMP’s 2026 Summer Intensive will be held at The University of Akron and will culminate in a performance alongside The Movement Project in our annual SummerWorks concert, presented on the final day of the intensive at Sandefur Theatre.
