MAKAYLA ULERY (she/her) is a dancer and creator from New Franklin, Ohio. At her home studio, she trained in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, and contemporary. On top of training at a studio, she has also trained at Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts and Firestone High School under educators such as Ashley Watts, Kelly Berick, and Elyza Morckel. While attending her high school, she has had the opportunity to perform in student led choreography and choreograph pieces of her own. Makayla attended the Art in Motion summer intensive, sponsored by Ballet West, for 2 years taking classes from Allison DeBona and Rex Tilton. She also participated in The Movement Project’s summer intensive from 2018-2024 to further her modern dance education and explore the process of choreography. While attending the intensive she was able to work closely with company members Elyse Morckel, Megan L. Gargano, Rebecca Leuszler, and Liz Conway. Currently, Makayla is attending Slippery Rock University (SRU) in hopes of receiving a BFA in dance with a concentration in performance and choreography.  During her time at SRU, she has been under the guidance of faculty members Erin Kowe, Jennifer Keller-Birkes, Irishia Romaine, Emmalee Hallinan, and Jason Noer. Makayla has had the opportunity to perform in SRU Dance Theatre with student choreographers Paula Rodriguez-Alvarez and Will VanSlander. Recently, she has performed at the Koresh Artist Showcase located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In the future, she hopes to join a modern or contemporary ballet company to show her love of dance and inspire others.
