Alebrije Art Collective; Ana Baer and Rocio Luna
Alebrije Collective is a collaboration between Mexican-American video choreographer Ana Baer and Mexican artist-scholar Rocío Luna. Their work bridges dance for camera, interdisciplinary performance, pedagogy, and research through a transdisciplinary and community-centered approach. Internationally active, Baer and Luna create videodance, multimedia installations, and stage works presented and commissioned across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Baer, based in the United States and a faculty member at Texas State University, has developed an extensive body of dance for camera and co-founded multiple platforms for dance cinema and media performance. Luna, a professor at Universidad Michoacana, combines over two decades of teaching, research, and more than sixty artistic works, with a focus on embodied knowledge, inclusion, and the relationship between body, memory, and territory. Together, their collaboration explores dance as a poetic, transformative practice that fosters dialogue, expands embodied knowledge, and builds community across artistic and cultural contexts.
