TMp Summer intensive 2024

Pre-Professional (12 - 18 yrs)

July 22nd - July 27th, 2024

This one week intensive is geared for serious-minded dancers interested in furthering themselves as creative artists and who wish to deepen and grow their technical and performance knowledge. This intensive provides a rigorous daily schedule in professional training, creative practice and rehearsals taught by TMP artistic directors, company members, as well as notable guest artists in the dance community. The program will focus on modern dance technique, contemporary, ballet, improvisation, composition, Latin-House, injury prevention, and somatic practices.  In addition to movement courses, the program includes courses designed to prepare young artists for a career in dance, such as, resume building, dance on film and marketing. As part of our marketing course, each artist will receive dance action shots for their portfolio.

• TMP’s annual summer intensive will be held at Martell School of Dance located in Akron!

• SummerWorks concert is back! All students will perform alongside TMP in our annual summer concert the final day of the intensive on Saturday July 27th at the Sandefur Theatre at The University of Akron!

This year marks our 10th summer intensive!

Program Details

Dates: July 22nd - July 27th, 2024

Time: Monday - Saturday (specific times TBD - typically between 9am-4pm)

Location: Martell School of Dance, 1530 W Market Street, Akron Ohio 44313

Note: The last day of the intensive will include the SummerWorks performance and will take place at the Sandefur Theatre at The University of Akron. (Guzzetta Hall, 228 E. Buchtel Ave, Akron Ohio 44325)

Pricing:

• Tuition Fee:

  • $395 (Early-Bird/New Dancers)

    • NEW DANCERS: If you are new to our summer intensive you can receive the $395 early-bird rate (pay by April 1st, 2024)

  • $385 (Returning Dancer or CDF Participant)

    • RETURNING DANCERS or CDF PARTICIPANT: If you have attended a past TMP summer intensive or performed at CDF 2023, you can attend this years intensive at a discounted rate of $385 (pay by April 1st, 2024)

  • $425 (Full-tuition)

    • or the $425 pay-in-full rate (pay by May 1st, 2024)

If you are a pre-professional student (12-18 yrs old) you must submit an application for level placement by selecting 1 of the 2 options below.

1. ONLINE SUBMISSION (New & Returning Students): Submit an online submission form & video application by completing the submission below! If you are a returning student, you will only need to complete an online submission form.

2. IN-PERSON AUDITION (New Students): If you are new and would like to audition in-person, please complete an online submission form below and select an audition date to attend. All auditions are free and open to all students.

step 2: Video submission

Film the following exercises. This can be done from your home using a smart phone! Keep it simple!

1. Basic Tendu Combination in Center

• Show the exercise in parallel and rotation (turn-out)

2. Improvisation across the floor or in place

3. Small modern or contemporary Phrase (1-3 sets of 8 counts)

• This could be something you have learned in class or something you have prepared yourself. This can be a ballet/jazz or modern/contemporary phrase.
