Youth showcase Application

1. This application is for youth dance ensembles ages 12 -18 years old.

2. All works submitted must not exceed 12 minutes.

3. Submission requirements for dance pieces: Cleveland Dance Fest is looking for concert dance pieces in the following styles/forms: modern/contemporary dance, ballet, pointe, cultural & traditional dance forms (African, Indian…).

Small Group Piece: 2-5 dancers

Large Group Piece: 6+ dancers

*We are not accepting any solo applications. (If you have a question regarding your piece, please email us at cdf@themovementproject.org)

4. All dancers performing must be between the age of 12 - 18 years old. (If at time of submission a dancer is a senior in high school and will be a freshman in college at the time of performance, they qualify to perform at CDF in the Youth Showcase)

5. UPDATE AS OF 8/22/22: At time of submission, pieces do not need to be completed.

Below are your options at time of submission:

  1. All must give a brief written description of their proposed works (keep it simple, just give us a general understanding of your proposed piece)

  2. If you have footage of the completed work you may submit it, however this is not required.

  3. If you have partial footage of the proposed work you may submit it, however this is not required.

  4. If you have a work sample of another piece you have performed that you would like to submit just as a work sample (but it’s not the work you want to perform at CDF) you are more than welcome to submit it, however this is not required.

  5. **If selected to perform at CDF, all participating artists will be required to submit footage of their final piece by October 10th, 2022. If selected, final cast names must be submitted by October 1st

6. Submissions for the youth showcase must be made under 1 studio/school name. Each studio/school can submit up to 2 pieces. (If you are a teacher or student looking to submit, please check with your studio to see if they are submitting an application. If so, you will need to submit under their name to ensure that no more than 2 applications are submitted per studio/school)

7. Upon receiving your application, an invoice will be sent to each applicant with payment instructions. Applications will not be adjudicated until the $10.00 Application fee is paid, and all supplemental materials have been submitted. (Application fee is non refundable)

Note: Applicant's can submit up to two applications. A $10 application fee will apply to your first submission and a $5 application fee will apply to your second submission.

8. All selected artists will be required to call in for the Information & Contract Meeting - Video Conference Call (MANDATORY VIDEO CONFERENCE CALL)

  • September 18th, 2022 (1:00 - 2:00 pm) - please make sure an adult from your group can be present for this video call.

9. Master Classes: Youth master classes will be taught by selected CDF professional artists performing in the evening concerts. Classes will take place Sunday, November 6th between 9:25 am - 12:35 pm. Each piece selected to perform must have 100% of their cast attend all 3 master classes in order to perform.

Note: If selected, a full list of cast members names, emails & payment for classes are due by October 1st.

10. The Youth Showcase will take place Sunday, November 6th at 5:00 pm. Tech rehearsal will take place Sunday, November 6th from 1:45 - 4:00 pm. (ALL CAST MEMBERS MUST BE PRESENT AT TECH IN ORDER TO PERFORM. NO EXCEPTIONS.)

11. TMP will provide the following resources and benefits:

  • professional video footage of your piece (digital copy)

  • marketing & promotional support

  • affordable master classes for youth

  • designated place to display your marketing material in the lobby

  • dressing room & warm-up space

  • marley stage floor, professional lighting (basic stage lights up and down)

  • free parking

  • the opportunity to share work with an audience

Important dates, times, fees & pricing

DATES/TIMES:

  • September 5th, 2022 (due at 11:00 pm) - APPLICATION DUE

  • September 18th, 2022 (1:00 - 2:00 pm) - MANDATORY VIDEO CONFERENCE CALL

  • October 1st, 2022 - FINAL CAST NAMES, EMAILS, MASTER CLASS PAYMENT DUE

  • November 6th, 2022 (All Day - see breakdown below) - CDF 2022: YOUTH SHOWCASE TECH/PERFORMANCE/MASTER CLASSES

9:25 am - 12:35 pm (Youth Master Classes)

- 1 hour lunch break

1:45 pm - 4:00 pm (Youth Showcase Tech Rehearsal)

- Students will have the opportunity to watch tech so they can see each others pieces!

5:00 pm (Youth Showcase Performance)

- reception to follow showcase

FEES/PRICING:

  • $10 application fee (1st submission) $5 application fee (2nd submission)

  • Master Class Pricing:

    • $41 (3 Class Pass) - Note: Each piece selected to perform must have 100% of their cast purchase a 3 class pass.

    • $15 (Single class rate) Note: If you have any students at your studio/school who is not performing but would like to attend a single master class, we offer a $15 rate for each class or they can purchase a 3 Class Pass for $41.

  • Ticket Prices for Youth Showcase:

    • $16 (pre-sale/door price)

Part 1 & 2 applications - Due September 5th, 2022 by 11:00 pm

a. Resume or Company CV

b. Please provide 2-3 high quality photographs of the proposed work or artist (recommended 300 dpi).

 

Artists will be notified within a week after applications close on September 1st.
