REBECCA BURCHER was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended Slippery Rock University (SRU) in Western Pennsylvania. She graduate in 2014 summa cum lade with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Science in Community Programs for Americans with Disabilities with a specialization in Adapted Physical Activity. In her time at SRU Rebecca received many awards and scholarships including Presidential Scholar, Outstanding Dance Major, and the prestigious Syed Ali Zaidi Award for Academic Excellence which is awarded annually to only one student from the 14 PASHEE Schools. Rebecca has been privileged enough to work with many incredible artists including Kristin Hapke, Elizabeth Corbett, Adele Myers, Tara Madsen, Antonio Brown, Crystal Frasier, Terence Greene, Kendra Portier, Pearl Ann Porter, Nora Ambrosio, Ursula Payne, James Washington, Melissa Teodoro, Teena Custer, Luis Fernad Tuchron, Helanius Wilkins, and Marcia Custer. Rebecca has worked with several companies including Amanda Tarr Dance Company (performer), Attack Theatre (Teaching Artist in Residence), Afro-Columbian Dance Ensemble (performer and Assistant Director), and Dancing Wheels Company & School (Assistant School Coordinator). Her work has been performed by The Movement Project (TMP) and several of her works were recently performed at SPACES gallery. Rebecca is currently a guest-artist with TMP and the Director of Dance Programming and a teacher at Elijah’s Developmental Arts Academy.
